Don't Trust Blog Comments From 24.208.220.xx

Jun 13th

I generally get mostly positive feedback here, but sometimes I stir stuff a bit and get negative feedback. Over the last year nearly half of my negative feedback has came from the IP address 24.208.220.xx. The funny thing is, no positive comments come from that IP address, and nearly every comment they leave has a different name signed to it.

  • John was worried about me having a Trojan in some software. So worried, in fact, that he also left another comment on the same post under the name Matthew.

  • Mark claimed SEO for Firefox violated Firefox's trademark.
  • Robin claimed I was an idiot for saying that AdWords was less stable than SEO.
  • Stacy made the ignorant comment that search spamming is against the law.
  • Marty thought Elite Retreat looked way overpriced.
  • Steven called me a jackass.
  • Shawn stated he thought I was afraid the Internet was affecting my job security.
  • Big John claimed that I had wrote yet another whiny post.
  • Steve, Kyle, Talk Radio, Mary J, kind of funny, and Charles Tomey all thought SEO Elite was the best thing since sliced bread, which might explain why they so adamently hate Backlink Analyzer and SEO for Firefox.

If they thought they were so clever with all the rude comments, why were they too stupid to change their IP address when they wrote them?

If a lot of people are throwing hate your way make sure to check the IP address. In some cases it is just one person who really hates you. :)

Are you going to ban the offending IP? You have to be really f%cking stupid to be such a lazy spammer.

Then again, a person in our marketing department once announced they were going to pass themselves off as a vendor on an industry blog. I was out of my desk and scrambling over to slap her hand away from the mouse but was too late. It took the blog a microsecond to identify us from our referring IP and we were left with egg on our faces. A good lesson in corporate PR.

Hmm, I wonder if reporting the IP beside the comment, would discourage him/her from doing that, or just encourage them to do it properly and change their IPs?
(I swear, social engineering is more fun than SEO ;))

I'm now being suspicious of all the above comments. Any one of them can be coming from "the hater". Even this one! :P

Don't lettem get to ya... Keep up the good blog!

Could be one person with multiple personalities that all just so happen to really dislike Aaron. ;)

Aaron,

You are not gonna believe this. I confirmed everybody's suspicions. :-)

I checked the ip block with ip2location.com:

IP Address Country Region City Latitude/Longitude ZIP Code Time Zone
24.208.220.1 UNITED STATES INDIANA ZIONSVILLE 39.9781 -86.2873 46077 -05:00
Net Speed ISP Domain
- ROAD RUNNER HOLDCO LLC RR.COM

Check the zip code

Then, I did a whois on seoelite.com:

Registrant:
Bryxen Software, Inc.
P.O. Box 856
Zionsville, IN 46077
US

Domain name: SEOELITE.COM

Administrative Contact:

Technical Contact:
Callen, Brad brad@seoelite.com

I guess I found the culprit. Sorry Brad!

Adeel Shahid, were you referring to me as being the last person to comment on SEO Elite?

Why would I be jealous?

Hamlet Batista, how do we not know that Aaron is trying to harm Brad? What has Brad done to Aaron to make Arron be so spiteful to him?

Maybe this is what your post was referring to: "Professional Jealously".

Anonymous. Look up the term "Spamming" in the dictionary or go to spamcop.com and revise what it says.
If you're getting these emails from brad, then REMOVE yourself from the list. How hard is that? Struth! :<(

Any way, What comes around goes around, as they say.

All the best,

Respectfully,

Loz

Hamlet Batista, how do we not know that Aaron is trying to harm Brad?

If I was making things up you could bet he would try to sue me.

Professional Jealously

Unlike someone else, I did not go to his site and write hate messages falsely claiming that he was distributing spyware.

Those in the know now know the truth. I am going to close this before it gets any uglier.

If someone wants to write a formal apology they know my email address.
