Time to Update the SEO Toolbar

Earlier today I called an older version of the SEO Toolbar that does not have the update option built in it. If you downloaded it earlier today, please download again from
http://tools.seobook.com/seo-toolbar/

The current version should be 1.0.1 (rather than 0.1). Sorry about the error on the updating part...but you won't have to download it again after this time...the update feature will work, and it is safe to just download it now as it will write over the earlier version of the extension.

any way to customize the toolbar. for example, most peopole have the google toolbar so we dont need page rank on the seo toolbar. any way to customize which features we see on the toolbar?

also, been finding that it has some stylistic issues with certain themes.

btw...it absolutely rocks!!! thnx for doing this!

If you read on the download page the section titled "unrivaled flexibility" that should help show you how to make such changes.

2 minutes of poking around I couldn't find the version information on the latest update.

I can find this in ny standard UI desktop app in 6 seconds: Help -> About.

I have no idea where would be a good place to put it for this toolbar, but wherever it goes it should be intuitively obvious to the casual observer.

Thanks!

At the top of the browser click the tools menu, then click on add ons...that lists all your extensions (and their versions)

Awesome toolbar. I was gonna point out a couple of bugs but after I disabled and enabled it again it's all sweet.

What I noticed was Firefox (3.0.5) seemed to forget all my saved passwords and bookmarks plus the address bar was only showing the url of the first open tab instead of the focus tab.

Hi,

I already used some tools, SEO for firefox & customize google.
But after some time when using these tools, Google starting banned our IP's, even google does not allows to search & not allows us to check backlinks & index pages.

When we mailed Google about these issues, they said that we are using some automated tools, so we banned your IP.

Now we stop using all these tools, & now there is no error, our IP comes out from BAN.

So, i want to ask that is there is any worth of using these tools.

You can turn the toolbar on and off. Totally up to you how you decide to use it. Many people are using it and find great value in it. :)

Aaron,

Excellent upgrade!! Two quick questions:

1. What's the difference between Yahoo Pagelinks and Yahoo Link Domain?

2. Also what is Majestic SEO linkdomain I'm seeing in the Compare sites feature?

Thanks,

BRLM

January 16, 2009 - 4:51pm

pagelinks = links to page
linkdomain = links to domain

MajesticSEO is a cool service that allows you to see how many unique linking domains point links at a particular site. for instance check out this
http://www.majesticseo.com/search.php?q=seobook.com
notice that there are over 28,000 unique domains linking to this site...and if you pay the credit price they give you lots more details - like the pages that are linking at your site and the anchor text that they use

fyi...been noticing some issues with the compete numbers not showing up. when i go to yellowpages.com or superpages.com, compete uniques show 0. everything else seems to be working nicely :)

January 16, 2009 - 5:56pm

Will look into that.

Surprised it's for free, but no complaint here!

I did notice one small cleanup piece; when mousing over DMOZ Directory links, "directory" is misspelled.

Just trying to help, and add to this unbelievable tool.

Installed the toolbar and loved it!

Can i suggest few things?

1)An option to use different whois provider like search status, i like a lot whois-search.com instead of DomainTools

2)An option to show the robots.txt file like search status

3)The most important thing is a way to change the default language to the country specific language when checking keywords on google trends or google insight or other services.

I see you automatically look also for plural keywords but for example in italian this doesn't make any sense.

Aaron what do you think, are those easy to implement options?

Beside those few things this is an incredible tool!

Thanks for the feedback. :)

#2 might be easy to integrate.
#3 might take a bit more effort, but is a good idea.
on #1 you can always create a bookmark and add it to the toolbar.

Netcraft toolbar features would be *greatly* appreciated (mainly the webhost *NAME*). I've already uninstalled 4 firefox addons because they are covered by your toolbar.

Also, is it possible to display icons only? (as opposed to icons+description)?

Alexa and Quantcast info would be nice as well.

Overall, wonderful product.

NOTE: I apologize if I've requested features already covered in the above posts. I didn't get a chance to go through them.

January 17, 2009 - 5:58pm

Yes you can display "icons only".
1.) right click about your address bar
2.) click the word "customize" from that menu
3.) at the bottom of the window that pops open there will be an option to "display: _____"...set that to display: icons

Alexa and Quantcast are in the competition dropdown. We are a bit limited on horizontal space, and I think Compete is a better (more reliable) metric for most of my sites than the other 2 are.

I just tried downloading and installing the three free tools in my Firefox 3.5.3. The Rank Checker couldn't install because it wasn't compatible with 3.5 -- it said it was compatible with 3.6. So, I upgraded to Firefox 3.6 -- even though it's still in Beta. So, I was able to install Rank Checker and SEO4Firefox, but not the SEO Toolbar. You guessed it: The SEO Toolbar isn't compatible with Firefox 3.6.

So, will there soon be a an upgrade of the SEO toolbar that's compatible with Firefox 3.6?

Thanks!

I use 3.5.3 and the toolbar (and other extensions) work for me.

Are you using Firefox? You must in order to download the tools.

If you are using Firefox and it is not working for you then you might want to clear cookies, restart your browser, login again, and then try to download the tools.

I think this was reported above already but I didn't notice if it was solved. In 3.6 on Windows it doesn't appear to run, the toolbar is there but it doesn't contain any buttons. Re-enabled and nothing helped.

Thanks for supporting this awesome toolbar! It works great on my Mac (I need to check the version when I get home to see if it's 3.6 or not.)

If you are getting the toolbar with a bunch of lines and no buttons on it, then you need to do like in this image
http://tools.seobook.com/seo-toolbar/click-up-top.png
and then click on "restore default sets"
