New Google SERP Changes

Google has been changing the code used to display their search results a number of times over the past couple days. We recently updated SEO for Firefox and Rank Checker. Both should work as of now, and if any more SERP changes happen we will try to update the extensions as soon as possible.

If you need to update these tools you can do so within the Firefox browser by clicking on Tools in the top Firefox menu, then from the Tools menu click on Add-ons. This will pop up the Add-ons / extensions window. At the bottom of this window there is a Find Updates button you can click. That will bring in the new updates and then when you re-start the browser the extensions should be fully functional again.

Aaron, the update kept throwing an "hash error" and the install kept failing when I tried to update.

Hi Rajasekharan
I wonder why it is doing that. The update worked ok for me, and then I just did an uninstall and reinstall of the extension and that worked too. So it should work. If it is acting weird maybe uninstall the extension and reinstall it.

You never truly appreciate something you use all the time until it stops working. Thanks Aaron for providing these great tools.

Phew.

I had a mild panic this morning when I checked my keywords to find I ranked nowhere for anything. I thought I had been given one almightly slap!.

So pleased to find I just needed to upgrade my version of RankChecker.

That'll teach me not to take a few days off.

Thanks Aaron. Great little tool.

Great Aaron the tool is working perfectly now but its shows some bitter results to the serps for few as always truth some times hurts.
The drop in rankings and high in few makes everyone say huh huh.

Hi Aaron,

I just updated my rank checker but not it doesn't work for google.co.uk.

I closed firefox and re-opened it but it still doesn't work.

Could you fix it please?

Thanks man!

Sean.

Hi Sean
Could you try uninstalling and reinstalling perhaps. or maybe a re-start of Firefox would help.

Hi Aaron,

I uninstalled the rank check, closed firefox, then reinstalled rank checker, and it still doesn't work for google.co.uk

Hi Sean
I think Google just changed their SERPs again. :(

I think we are going to try to use regex to code it to make it work for multiple serp formats. We should have an update out today or tomorrow.

Got a problem. I've installed updates - no google.com or .co.uk results. I've uninstalled then reinstalled. Still the same - nothing showing.

I've manually checked google for our positions and our pages still listed ok.

Any tips

Thanks for doing your best with this issue Aaron, for a free tool service you are doing pretty well. Any idea on what is going on behind the scenes as a reason for this code change?

August 26, 2008 - 3:35pm

I think they are trying to shake out a lot of automated queries.

An automatic update of Rank checker just happened, but there are still no results for google.co.uk

We will try to get this fixed soon Sean.
