"older than dirt"....yes, he's old old school SEO.... He was also the very first text link broker...scared google so much they banned him back in like 2002....then he sued Google....long story......Bob is also one of the best writers in SEO...Google his name, read his writings....he's a wealth of knowledge.
Jim: I'm going to have to look that up on him suing Google. I'd imagine the guy is pretty knowledgeable with search, I'm surprised I never heard of him I guess he don't really brand his self to much or stick his self out if you know I mean, but hey i guess people know him and know of him then they know who to go to :).
Eventually Google's tricks catch up to them. Yahoo! user satisfaction is up, Google's is down: Yahoo! scores in search battle.
Didn't know where else to post this, but thought you guys would enjoy it. Yahoo! has the better community (according to the study) which gives users a better experience. Back when Google was all about search, it provided the best results which is what people wanted. They went elsewhere for community.
As the quality of Googles' SERPs drop, they'll likely begin to lose marketshare. I don't know if they realize that "community" is more than which background, blue links, and neatly organized divs. Average internet users want to feel like they're on a community website, not a cold slab of raw information.
I have heard of him and have read some of his blog.
Having been in the business for so long he must know a lot, saying that, often the 'experts' are stuck in their ways and not aware of new changes, or not supportive of new changes.
My first post here, but gotta start somewhere I guess!
I enjoyed the Ralph Tegtmeier interview. My partner and I started a fashion jewelry website around the first of the year, and we both know we need to work on our links to assist in getting some Google "love". It would be hard enough trying to do all that is necessary to get placement in one engine, let alone three.
Now if I can get just some of the exposure on Google and Yahoo that I have with MSN, I would be a happy camper!
Great site Aaron, I try to stop by everyday to amass even more loose knowledge on what I am trying to accomplish!

This doesn't surprise me. There search has been horrible for the last couple of points, I am speaking purely from a user standpoint. Sometimes I get so fed up with it, I do try other engines now, whereas in the past I've never tried others.

So I'm now the world's oldest living SEO guru. I guess it's true but I don't see why you couldn't have said one of SEO's best looking or something.
I suppose I have to admit it though because when I first started there was no SEO book, there was no Google, John Scott was only 4'11, Graywolf was still a brunette and Shoemoney had hair!

must be older then dirt, cause I've never heard of him.
Looks like Peter DaVanzo's blog on link building is already doing a good job. It just got a link from Aaron Wall only by opening the blog! :P

"A man once offered me work and said he would gladly pay me what I was worth to which I replied, "man, I can't live on that!""
That was my favorite part. He has a good sense of humor and sounds like Mr. Miagi from Karati Kid :) But I like him.
Samurai,
What do you mean, Aaron gives out links like fruit cups during snack time!
:)
