Free Pass to Attend Danny Sullivan's Seattle Search Marketing Expo

You must pay for travel costs, but I have a free pass to attend SMX Advanced in Seattle on June 4th and 5th. I bought a pass but found out that I was invited to speak. If you want the free pass leave a comment about why I should give it to you and I will select the winner Monday.

I believe that it's going to be a great show, that will offer a lot of interesting knowledge beyond that of the less advanced SES shows. Why should you pick me? Well, I've been in the field for a couple of years, and unfortunately my company doesn't have the available budget for me to attend this particular conference. I've been contemplating just paying for it myself, but with the conference pass as well as travel & hotel it would have been too much. With a 'free pass' I would go ahead and pay for the hotel and travel myself. Have fun, and learn from the best. (not necessarily in that order) ;)

Reasons Why I should be Picked.

1. We met at pubcon and we had a great discussion on advanced internet marketing techniques. Since SMX is supposedly for people who are beyond the intermediate stage of web marketing, i'm a good choice.

2. I know most of the so called seo gurus there already.

3. I can skip school for 2 days to attend it.

4. You asked me to chat with you but I couldn't find your email address. Anyway, even if you don't pick me, shoot me an email. Some of the ventures we spoke about last time, we launched it already.

5. I have been in this industry for a few yrs , but i know my shit.

6. Honestly , I wouldn't go otherwise. it's half way across canada.

I don't know any SEO gurus nor have I attended any conferences, but I'm a quick learner with big ideas and know what I don't know.

In terms of bang-for-the-buck, its better to send someone who's still on the upward curve, rather than an expert with years of experience who might not learn as much.

I'll give it a try. I am in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. I am doing SEO for a mid-size company, and learnign a lot from you, Rand and a few other bloggers. The company I work for can't pay for this and I can't afford to pay for it myself. I'd love to be able to go and meet you and all the SEO gurus, to learn more.
I'd drive down and pay for the hotel, just can't afford the expo pass.

Thanks for the opportunity.

"SMX is open to business professionals 18 years and over only."

Age restrictions? Oh please, Danny should know better. Young entrepreneurs should be able to attend. They'd get a lot out of it.

Those types of restrictions get annoying very quickly.

I do volunteer SEO work for a non-profit company that helps people recover financially, personally, and spiritually from bankruptcy.

I've been in the SEO field for the last 3 years, and could use the advanced training.

I read all the blogs, bought your ebook, went to the old SES conferences, etc.

I would love the chance to attend, and since I am already working for free. there is no chance they can pay to send me. :)

Alex Garcia

I would love to go and I think I should receive the ticket because I have not been since 2001. I was actually working for Ah-ha back then and ran the booth with Bob Barnes and Amy (forgot her last name but she was really hott) at the Ah-ha.com booth. This is back when Overture was still Goto.com or actually they might have just changed their name. All I remember is that they were jerks and didn't really mingle much with the rest of us.

Anyways I have been away from the industry for far far to long (atleast 4 years)

I am now part owner of a start up that deals with mp3s and we have not done any SEO and could really use the info. I am a tad bit out of touch with Search Technology and this would be the perfect opportunity to get reintroduced into SEO.

Hopefully this message was not to long

May 10, 2007 - 10:23pm

Why I should be picked.

1. Because I visit your site religiously

2. Because I plan on promoting your tools on my own website (in development)

3. Because I met Danny at Chicago SES back in December and we had plans to go smoke cigars and talk big webmarketing plans. If I make it out to Seattle I can take him up on it.

4. How many SEOs do you know who can do this:

http://lh5.google.com/image/seoprodigy/RkN8UkgnW5I/AAAAAAAAABI/OW8TnQ-Eo...

*This was taken on December 9th, 2006 a week after Chicago SES. You see, I learned all sorts of good stuff there...

Well first off, it would be an honor to get to go. If by the luck of Aaron I do get chosen, I'd bring my dSLR and notebook and be the official SEOBook "eyes and ears" @ SMX. And if you would allow.. it would also be my honor to post a detailed guest blog with all the pictures and notes of all the good stuff that went on at SMX Advanced. Nothing would please me more.

May 10, 2007 - 10:54pm

Hey Aaron,
I was working for a company, doing SEO, and I just went out on my own this week. I was reading somewhere that it is going to be focused more towards the advanced marketer, which is good, because I know PubCon (and have heard SES) are pretty basic in the info they provide. If I had the cash it would be one of the few conferences I attend this year. Hopefully things will be cranking for me by this time next year.

Hey Aaron its Tyler Dewitt, Hey I think I deserve it quite honestly I've worked really hard to get where I'm at, this is my passion, this is what I love doing.

I went from losing a job, about lost everything I had and still kept working at it, I do this night and day which you probably know.

I've gave me hole life to seo, and building something that I had from nothing, and now am ranking for keywords that are very competitive I mean does that tell you how important it is to me?

I don't know what to say LOL.

I attended SEOdays and both enjoyed & benefited from the event immensely. I gained and renewed a lot of knowledge and would like to continue the learning experience.

I had thought long and hard about attending SMX Advanced, but decided to wait until a UK/London event, especially as I will be in the States in July and am likely to attend Elite Retreat in Chicago in the summer.

Being in the company of other SEOs and web developers is extremely motivating for me, especially as someone self-employed, and I'm sure I will contribute and participate positively to the event.

I'd have to go with either "The Booth Babes of SEO" and/or the "Boob Bait(TM)" meme. *Just Kidding*

Seriously though, it sounds like a great opportunity to get more SEO knowledge under my belt; especially considering the agenda, the speaker list, and the fact that I live an hour from the expo. I'm definitely more interested in the organic path, and the entire event is lining up to be a great avenue for networking and getting information straight from many of the go-to people in the industry.

First off, thank you for offering that. I am quite sure you could get your money back, so you rock for this.

At first I was going to nominate some people who deserve this, using the age old "selfless" angle, but there was simply to much of a possibility that you would give it to someone else other than me which would suck because I WANT THAT FRIGGEN PASS. No one else should get it. It should be mine.

I want this free pass bad.

Aaron, I hike alot, and sometimes on a hike I realize that I didn't wipe my ass good enough and my butt cheeks get red and bumpy and start hurting like hell with every step I take, resulting in me walking more slowly and more penguin-ish.

It is painful, that "chaffed ass that hasn't been wiped enough" feeling but in that situation, given a choice between this free pass and toilet paper, I would choose the free pass and wipe my ass with some leaves.

I think Danny will appreciate if your give it to me just to keep my Rock Out with your Expo Only Pass Out festival from taking place in his parking lot. Even if you don't don't give me this free pass I forgive you and you are welcome and wanted to speak at my "parking lot sweetness" event.

Let it be known that when Rand published this picture of you, I was the first person to defend your honor and out of 42 comments, only me and Kimberly Krause Berg had your back.

I am in a challenging position, and I think I would benefit from your offer more than most, but I am not a real big fan of "this is why I should get this" type of contests.

I do look forward to meeting you in Seattle, and that should happen whether I have a full conference pass or not.

But, dammit, that pass should be mine, it is unnatural for anyone other than me to get it and if you give it someone other than me the Earth will shake in anger.

Every time you give a free pass to someone other than me, a unicorn dies.

I will do good things with it, I think you know this.

Thanks again for offering this, and good luck to all the other bastards, er, I mean entrants.

Pat

Top 10 reasons why I would love to have the extra conference pass.

1. The company I work for won’t pay for the ticket and I can’t afford it either. It would be great if you could help me out.

2. My plan was to cover the travel cost myself, and just purchase the Expo-Only pass for $25. I was going to loiter in the halls and hotel bar but not attend the sessions. (How pathetic is that?)

3. Just being there, even without a ticket would be better than not being there at all. However… I would love to have a full pass.

4. The primary reason why I want to go, is to interact with other search marketers like you, but you can’t get into the networking parties and after hours events without a full pass.

5. Sitting by myself in the hotel bar while you and everyone else is at the Google party or wherever is going to suck.

6. It’s Danny’s first show after leaving SES and I want to be there to show my support. Ten years from now, I’ll be able to say that I was there and swap stories with other attendees about how small and how cool the first show was, etc…

7. I want the t-shirt. Every SES I’ve attended, I got a souvenir T-shirt with the conference materials and welcome pack. I like to collect these but they only go to the folks who have a ticket. I’m sure SMX will be the same. (It’s no fun buying something like that, it’s just not the same) I also want the t-shirt because it’s the first show. 10 years from now, I’ll show up at a SMX Conference with an old t-shirt from the first show and impress all the newbie’s.

8. I want the bragging rights. “That’s right baby! Aaron Wall (who is my best friend forever) gave me the pass!” More than likely, I’ll be blogging about it over and over. (I like to drop names - I know - it’s shallow).

9. I’m getting island fever in a bad way. I’m dying to get off this rock and visit the mainland. Attending SMX is my idea of a fun and relaxing vacation. My SMX vacation won’t be complete without a full conference pass. (People in Hawaii need to take a vacation once and a while too ya know.)

10. If you ever visit Hawaii, I’ll make sure you get Leid! ;)

I am a young web entrepreneur and i spend almost all of my time on the web, forums and blogs related to SEM, webmasters and affiliate marketing.

I think this would be a great opportunity for me to learn more and specialize in this, as i want it to be my full-time job.

Currently, i am a co-owner of a small blog network and we work to hire writers, promote the blogs and try to create great resources for people with all different interests, like, technology, health, sports, fashion, design and more. We try to expand, promote, but we have just about 1-2 years of experience and this Search Marketing Expo would be great for me to learn from the best in the industry.

I live in Romania, a country where the annual wage is smaller than the pass and travel costs. Though i don't base on a salary, but on my online earnings, it's still much, as i use the money for living, expanding my websites, doing affiliate marketing research and monthly taxes, like hosting.

If you think i deserve this pass, i will be glad to pay the travel and hotel costs.

Thank you,
Dumitru Alexandru

Ohh yea, I never got to make it to the one in new york :( if you remember right, but looks like there tons of comments coming in, plus I'd like to see you speak aaron, and possibly meet you if your not busy, but hey last comment :).

thanks Aaron for the help, and recommendations about joining the social part of the web its helped me quite well. I will owe you some credit for taking the time out when I was really in the hole there awhile back.

Which I know your a really busy person, and have lots of things to do and probably several e-mails, but hey just wanted to say I appreciate the few tips you gave me they really come to mind when I'm doing stuff.

You know the other day I was walking through my house, and I was thinking how much traffic was coming from social media, and by all the communications I've made on the web in forums, and other places.

It quite helped a lot, and I remember something when you told me to join the social part of the web, I didn't think much about it, but then I started thinking about it the other day, and I was thinking that what you meant which I know what you was meaning to say, but it really didn't click on me until then.

John offered me a job over in toyko, with a pretty good pay rate, well he was offering quite a lot from the way he was speaking, but I turned it down cause I wanted to continue doing what I was doing (building my company).

I probably wouldn't of even known some of the things I know, if I haven't talked to John several times on the phone, and I met him by being in the social part of the web.

Which granted I would of probably known the things I have, but I wasn't so sure about them until I actually heard it from people that have been successful, and know its right.

Its kind of like I was lost in directions at first, but now I know my direction I'm heading into, and I'm not letting go by any means.

But yes Thanks Aaron!

LOL kind of hard to explain what I was trying to say in a comment, but I got to thinking about the other day when I was walking through my kitchen, it just kind of dawned on me.

Social Web =
Meeting people
Networking
Education
Brand can build once people find out how good you are at what you do, or how much effort you put into it.
and so many more things.

I believe that if anyone is very passionate about what they do, or have believes no matter how much money, or money they don't have they will become successful if they try hard enough.

I feel that the individual has to be passionate about there direction.

Just some things I think, and believe in :)

Anyways take care Aaron :)
Thanks :)

Hey Aaron!

Props to you for giving away a pass that you paid so much for! I would like to have the free pass because I am having SEO conference and party withdrawal. The last one I went to was almost 1 year ago.

I was going to pay my own way to go to SMX, but my girlfriend wouldn't let me when she found out that I was cheating on her with SEO. So, I think you should pick me because I am willing to pull the "SEO is just a friend" card... even though we all know that it is not true.

It seems like just about everybody that I look up to in the SEO industry will be at SMX... I just hate missing out on opportunities like this due to a cheap boss.

... and $534,933.09 more from another account!

If you remember how to add, that's well over $1,000,000 a year from just 2 accounts, and I've got many more!

Aaron, hold on to that vision cos this could be YOUR reality sooner than you think, if your give me the conference pass.

You want to raise the price of your ebook in order to afford your hosting bills? You're Not Alone

I know you're secretly thinking...

"Gang0rraZ, cut the crap. There's no way my checking account are gonna look like yours!"

I feel ya.

It seems like only yesterday when I felt like throwing in the towel because my checks just wouldn't get any bigger no matter how much harder I tried!

Trying Is NOT The Answer...

I've walked a mile in your shoes before, so I know exactly how downright frustrating it is to 'try' and keep 'trying'.

Fact: The key to HUGE checks and windfalls of profit is really MORE traffic! Not Selling Expensive Ebooks!!

Think about it...

Having all the traffic you want allows you to make all the profits you want.

It'll make marketing your SEO book seem almost dumb - you'll know exactly how and who to promote your site to… you'll be able to beat every other internet marketer out there at their own game without having to resort to shady programs or having to compete to be noticed and …

Spark An Electrifying Surge In Your Cashflow!

Your website's profitability and success is directly dependent on how much traffic, targeted traffic, you get.

If you only get a few wankers then it's practically impossible to grow your business and see a profit.

But get 1,000, 5,000 or 10,000 (or more) visitors a day, week or month and you'll begin to see a "snowballing" effect that'll let you generate cashflow and begin to build the structure for the life you've always wanted.

Unfortunately, generating enough traffic is probably one of the BIGGEST frustrations you and most internet marketers have… it's sort of like a dog trying to chase his own tail, you go round and round and round but eventually end up in the same place you began, loopy from the dizzying whirl!

Few of the methods being thrown about online work, others are a complete waste of time and money.

But it doesn't have to be difficult, frustrating or confusing - the days of yanking your hair out trying to figure out how to get the RIGHT PEOPLE to come to your website or see your products are over…

Get me that pass and I will reveail my secret in person at SMX.

Your fan, Gang0rraz

I *must* go to SMX!

I've been doing SEO at MasterLink in Dallas for over a year. I've been reading all the blogs, The SEO Book, etc. trying to absorb everything that I can over the last year.

Today is my mentor, Mark Barrera's, last day with the company. I will be left to do *all* SEO (organic, PPC, blogging, link building, writing & submitting press releases & articles, ...) efforts for 30+ clients on my own. I have never been to an SEO conference and think that now is the time for me to step it up and learn even more from experts like yourself and Danny at the upcoming Search Marketing Expo.

And I can guarantee you that I can party just like an SEO rock star!

I can't use the pass but I'd like to 301 redirect my Pass Equity from this comment to the boob bait comment from That Girl.

100% Free Money Making Tips for YOU

Dear Followers,

After reading all your pathetic posts about how poor and miserable your lives are. I decided to share my secret.

Instead of just benefiting Aaron, who apparently makes enough money to buy a SMX conference pass in the first place, I decided to share
with the world my never-hear-before money making secret.

I haven't paid for a single ad in over 3 years.

Let that sink in for just a minute.

I haven't purchased an ad in over 3 years.

No SEO Books. No Yahoo Marketing pay-per-click listings. No Google Ads. No paid solo mailings. No gimmick software. No co-registrations.

Nothing.

Not a single penny.

And yet I continue to receive tens of thousands of visitors to my sites each month, pull in huge profits and add thousands of new opt-in subscribers to my lists.

Here are just a few of the results from the free advertising technique I'm am sharing with you...

  • In the past 2 weeks alone I pulled in $368,401.67 in PROFIT for just ONE of my 3 dozen products through free advertising!
  • I average sales every single day for my SEO eBook Creator software and my SMO Traffic Virus software that are brought in through free advertising!
  • My new 30,000 square foot home is being paid for by affiliate commissions that were generated completely with free advertising!
  • The "Profit Pulling Updates" list that was built completely with free advertising brings me in $50K - $75K every month!

Most people would be thrilled with those results from PAID advertising!

And yet I haven't had to spend any money at all to generate those results, and the many other results that are equally as impressive.

But, that isn't even the best part...

Revealed: Not only can you generate web
site traffic and build your lists for FREE,
but you can do it AUTOMATICALLY!

You see, I don't really "work" at free advertising.

I don't monitor pay-per-click listings to see if I'm being outbid.

I don't search the web to find more quality newsletters to advertise in.

I don't blast out ads day after day to safelists.

I set up my "automated profit generators" and let them do the work for me.

And now, in an "all access" presentation, I'm telling you all of my secrets about how you can make this much, completely free for yourself.

    Your Majesty,
    Gang0rraZ

Aron if you give the pass to me. I promise to wear your name badge. As we all know half the people there know who you are and look like. What a shock they will recieve
when they realize aron has a new and really ugly face and body. Sure makes the rick jerk a brad pitt look alike.

btw this is a joke and would never think of pretending to be you.

    Hi Aaron,

Much of the SEO work I do is pro bono via word of mouth. In the spirit of doing the most good, as you are doing with your offer, I will make a $500 donation to the charity of your choice in exchange for the pass. And in addition to playing the karma card, June 3rd is my birthday.

Give me the pass. I probably don't deserve or "need" the freebie as much as many others that have asked, and really there is no clear justification as to why I should get it. Just look at how poor my comment here is...

...Except for this: Think of all the links you'd get for giving your pass away to some schmuck who had no legitimate reason to get the free pass? Its genious. Blogs would be talking... "Why did Aaron give his pass (link) to some regular Joe who had no good claim on it instead of giving it to someone more deserving?" Ah yes, controversy. Controversy = links. Let's teach the world to be different.
