New Keyword List Cleaner Tool

With many companies offering free keyword research tools I recently created a keyword list cleaner that can be used to help you format keyword data into a usable format. Use the SEO Book keyword list cleaner, grab the source code if you like it, or read here for background on the tool.

It's incorrect way to remove that numbers. For example, numbers very important in keywords like "web 2.0" or "firefox 3.0" :))

Usually searches number's row separated by tabs - you can use it for removing searches nums.

Hello Sam
Number stripping is an OPTION...not something that is required for people to do to use this tool. Most keywords do not have numbers in them.

Can you sort the keyword phrases into the correct gramatical order? For example: To reorder the keyword phrase when the overture suggestion tool brings back the keywords in alphanumeric order which don't make sense ie '16803 dryer machine repair washer' should read 16803 washer dryer machine repair'

After I clean my list with your tool, what about match type (for PPC)? Is their a tool that will take my new clean list and generate phrase and exact match type for each keyword?

Jacob:

If your kw list is less than 65,000 rows, just use Excel to quickly create phrase and exact match versions of your list. You can concatenate "" or [] to your keywords in a few seconds w/ Excel.

Great tool Aaron. Thanks so much for sharing it!
I just blogged it to all my readers.

There's another FREE keyword tool that just came out that would be the PERFECT companion to your tool for people looking for additional sources to grab targeted keyword lists. I blogged about it last week. Here's an over view.

"...Immediately generate huge sortable keyword lists from any web page you're visiting - on the FLY! Basically, using this FREE script, you can use the Google keyword tool to analyze any page that you're currently visiting to extract and generate thematically related keywords, together with their prices in the Adwords system, sort a variety of meaningful ways, use a word cloud to do more KW research and output everything in a well formatted html table, which can be easily imported to any other application!"

NEW - Totally Hot Free Keyword Tool!

You really need to watch the video to understand how powerful it is.

So if you use that tool 1st, then your keyword cleaner it could be pretty dynamic and save folks a lot of time.

Hi Jacob
I have a keyword list generator which allows you to wrap output phrases in quotes or boxes.

Hi Linda
The guys who made that tool also pitched it to me. It is pretty neat.

What for stripping numbers? Useless option, because SE interpret [A-Za-z0-9_]+ (and local letters) as words.

Why not give an option to strip numbers? Is a keyword campaign full of keywords with search volume estimates in it a keyword list of any value?
