Hi Aaron, when you mean by "exported result sets" the CSVs with the ranking data: I can open those, still they contain only the data from when I manually started a ranking check, not from the points of time when I wanted a scheduled task to run... Any idea?

April 12, 2011 - 11:16pm

Fantastic tool thanks Aaron.
Please could you check google.co.nz, I am not getting any results returned, all showing ,-,
I've already checked for updates but am running latest.

Also would you look at including Yahoo New Zealand in the future?

April 13, 2011 - 6:01pm

Rank checker does not produce reports. Is there support for this? I couldn't find it.

April 13, 2011 - 9:37pm

those who are not paying need to be exceptionally polite to get any level of suport though...no reason for us to give away our software AND our time to anyone who is rude and/or treats us like dirt.

February 28, 2012 - 12:50am

Either I click on multiple, the add button not working, or the single keyword, nothing happens when I click add. Any solutions to this?

February 11, 2013 - 2:39pm

FF 18.0.2 on Win 7

I've even tried disabling all other plugins but that didn't help.

April 18, 2011 - 12:40am

Hi, Firstly Aaron I would like to say what a fantastic firefox add-on this is! It has cut my time spent in half! however I seem to have one glitch - which I am not sure if its just me or if others have the same issue. I have tried looking back through comments but don't seem to find the issue.

Every so often when I run a report, rank checker appears to freeze. It will get part way through and then just stay there. I have the symbol to say its searching but it just doesn't move on. Is it something I am doing? It only starts to work again, once I have shut down my PC and come back to it at another time. Just wondered if you could through any light on what I might be doing wrong please?

If you check your rank for too many keywords too quickly, Google will block you. You have to go on google.com (or whichever local google you were checking your rank with) and enter the captcha, then SEO rank checker will resume.

August 11, 2011 - 9:07am

Yes, Totally agree with that if you check your ranking for many keywords quickly, Google will block you. Even if you are not able o check your page is cached or not. For that you have to go for displayed page having captcha image, enter that captcha and you are able to check or cached pages after short period of time.

I was trying to check my rank for a .CO domain and the SEO Rank Checker plugin returned results for a .COM domain. Problem is the .COM is #1 so I won't be able to get my rank until I dislodge #1!

I'm guessing it shouldn't be too complicated to fix this bug. Hope to see a fix soon!

Thanks for the plugin, it is saving me a lot of time :)

April 20, 2011 - 6:41am

thanks for the feedback :)

April 19, 2011 - 6:23am

Hi there,

I try this tools, but it can't work properly in Google.co.uk.
actual and rank checker tools ranking different.

Please update me.

Thanks,
Neil

April 20, 2011 - 6:41am

also verify you are using the most recently released version of the extension

April 19, 2011 - 11:35am

Thanks nadimelgarhy - This is what I thought also, but when I go to Google either .com or.co I get no captcha,.

April 19, 2011 - 11:37am

Haha ok I take that back.... Just tried it again and this time I did get the Captcha.... so simply! Always the way!

April 26, 2011 - 7:08pm

Hi Aaron,

I have installed and updated this fantastic extension, and everything seems to be working, but I cannot verify the ranking results.

When I scroll over the ranking number and hold CTRL as instructed, there is no link that takes me to the SERP to verify ranking.

And even when I manually go to Google or Yahoo, and scroll threw the SERP for my keywords, I don't find my domain in the results anywhere!

Any ideas?

April 26, 2011 - 8:13pm

to click through to the search results

April 26, 2011 - 7:37pm

Ok, Ive updated Firefox and Rank Checker takes me to the SERP, but my domain is not listes in the results?

I have tried it with diffetent keywords, I get a ranking, but when I go to verify it is nowehere to be found on the SERP...

April 27, 2011 - 2:50pm

Thanks Aaron, but I still can't find my domain listed on the SERP...

You can test it yourself:

Domain: fairway-home.com
Keyword: fairway home

Would appreciate your advice?

April 28, 2011 - 3:20pm

Hey Aaron,

I own the domain: missunilondon.com. It is on n.4 position on the SERP for "miss uni london" keyword on Google.com

When I use the rank checker it simply doesnt detect any position for "miss uni london".

Im seriously starting to doubt how reliable this tool actually is. Quite disappointed. :(

April 29, 2011 - 6:29am

so the problem must be on your end somewhere.

April 29, 2011 - 6:32pm

Definitely a user-friendly interface! Thanks for the helpful video!
I'm looking forward to the added proxy settings!
In the scheduled tasks, will it some day be possible to set up different presets to run at different hours?
Thanks so much for a great tool!

May 2, 2011 - 4:42pm

Hi Aaron,

I've been super pleased with this tool, as it has made life much easier.

I recently started noticing some strange results on my rank checker queries.

The first issue is that the URL which appears as the ranking page is listing a bunch of variables after the trailing slash:

dnlsalvage.com spud barges 5 dnlsalvage.com/spud-barges.html" class="l vst" onmousedown="return rwt(this,'','','','15','AFQjCNFtRySipf5T6HJDIfW-9_LEe3YaOQ','z5eqoIRzaNv6gov36YoKIA','0CHwQFjAO')">Spud Barges | Jack Up Barges | Spud Barge Rental | D&L Salvage

 - 3 visits - Mar 23

Our spud barges and jack-up barges range from 88 feet to 140 feet in length, and can accommodate cranes, excavators and other heavy equipment needed to ...dnlsalvage.com/spud-barges.html - Cached
  • http://bargesandworkboatsforsale.com/barges-for-sale/barges-spud-barge-c...

Also, the tool is not displaying any rankings for some of my keywords, that I have manually verified are ranking in the top 5.

I think this started within the last week or 2, but I can;t be sure.

Have you seen this issue coming up recently?

I tried uninstalling and re-installing, but still no dice.

    Any advice for me?

    Thanks so much!

  • May 3, 2011 - 3:59pm

I am having the EXACT same issue as Spencer, that's why I came here! It started within the past few days.

    May 5, 2011 - 3:24am

Hi Aaron - thank you for these excellent tools you've provided! I've been referring people over whenever I can.

Lately though (in the last week or two), the preset ranking data isn't showing any available info in the ranking columns. It shows the domain, keyword and date column (with actual dates and timestamps) but nothing else. I noticed this happened after FF did a recent update to version 4 but not entirely sure that was the reason why. The normal rank checker pulls data and I can see ranking there but any of my past and new presets have suddenly killed off the ranking, indexed URL and engine columns. I tried to uncheck and recheck the search engines, or created a new preset to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Cheers

    May 5, 2011 - 3:29am

Just to clarify in the presets, this happened seemingly after the second update of FF4. It was working fine with the first version of FF4. I see domain, keyword & date/time info. The other columns (engine & url indexed) have disappeared completely. When I run the rank checker, it captures the date/timestamp but nothing else appears when I open up the CSV file.

    May 5, 2011 - 3:41am

the update page has instructions for how to clear out some of the data issues.

    May 5, 2011 - 8:39pm

Thanks Aaron, if I was looking at the update page correctly, i tried the following:
    - removed and reinstalled rank checker, nada (updated the seo toolbar too)
    - optimized the dbase first, nada
    - emptied dbase, nada
I went so far as to delete the rankchecker.sqlite file and created a new preset campaign with sample keywords and that too was showing the same info while missing other columns as previously mentioned. I can only guess the database "table" for those missing columns was lost or corrupted but that's my very amateur guess. it still shows date/timestamps with keywords but no past ranking data. I'm stumped.

    June 2, 2011 - 11:48pm

gtr101, i'm seeing the same issue with my presets. were you able to find a fix?

    July 2, 2011 - 8:33am

Hi jr202, sorry I missed your post here. When FF5 launched, I updated my browser from FF4 and then updated the latest version of SEO Toolbar 1.1.13 and Rankchecker 1.8.7. My presets now show data again in all of the columns. I never did figure out what the problem was but I know it wasn't just my desktop that had the issue. My laptop also experienced the same problem and they both work fine again. They retained all the data from before the issues started so that was a plus.

    July 7, 2011 - 6:14pm

And also kept my historical data.

But I can't seem to get the scheduler to work. It used to work for me but wouldn't work now. I'm still testing different things to make it work but any help or suggestion would be much appreciated.

    May 5, 2011 - 6:41pm

I updated the plugin and optimized the database. I'm still having the exact same issue as Spencer outlined above.

    May 20, 2011 - 3:48am

    Hi,

When i use google.com.au to search for "Connect Electricity" for connectnow.com.au it displays it in 5th position, but if i use rankchecker with google set to .com.au, it reports it as 12. I've noticed other tools do the same, since google now groups sites together (eg. all sites from same domain gets merged into a single result).

Is it possible to have an option to get a number as displayed on the website as opposed to pure position? For example i'm interested if the link displays on the homepage and where, rather than if i'm Xth best result for given keyword.

    Cheers,
    Primoz

    May 23, 2011 - 7:53pm

I am moving to another pc and would like to move the history from the rank checker extension over. is there any set of files that I can copy over to the new system and maintain the history ?

    May 23, 2011 - 8:07pm

I found the rankchecker.sqlite file on the old PC and copied this over to the new pc and all the history was migrated.

    February 21, 2012 - 7:04pm

I am trying to find the referrenced rankchecker.sqlite file to move to another computer and I am unable to find this file. I'm running Windows 7 and Firefox version 10.0.2

    February 22, 2012 - 12:05pm

on Windows XP it's location is

    c: / documents and settings / my username / application data / mozilla / firefox / profiles / someweirdstring / rankchecker.sqlite

I think application data was a hidden folder
    and
    someweirdstring is like brm9cmz3.default

    ----

and on Windows Vista (I think Windows 7 is mostly still Vista) it is located at something like

c: , users, owner, appdata, roaming, mozilla, firefox, profiles, weird string

    June 11, 2011 - 8:18am

    Hi,

When i use this tool for the keyword web-app and domain appshaker.de it will not show any result, although i found it in goole rank 273. why?

    June 11, 2011 - 5:39pm

I'm engaged in academic research using rank checker to determine placement of a website in an area with 48 million pages indexed to a key word. I'd like to be able to set a maximum #, like 1 million, and if that site is not in the top million of those ranked for key words, the search would stop and say "over 1 million" or over 2 million, or whatever threshold I set.

Is there a way to do that now?

Similarly, I don't see a "stop button" that would tell me the results at the time it is stopped, essentially, "RankChecker checked the top 78,400 search results and did not find this website listed yet."

    June 12, 2011 - 12:16am

Few, if any, modern search engines let you view deeper than the first 1000 search results for any keyword.

    June 11, 2011 - 5:43pm

Any plans to make a chrome version of rank checker? I had to make the switch to Chrome just because of how slow firefox was being with many windows open. A chrome version of rank Checker would be great.

    June 12, 2011 - 10:44am

    Any particular reason why?

    June 12, 2011 - 10:46am

I see you answered that already. Cheers.

    June 23, 2011 - 7:53am

Will there be coming a version compatible with FF5 any time soon? Would be great! Cheers.

    June 23, 2011 - 12:54pm

I tried to install on firefox 3.6.17, but it couldn't. Now I upgraded all the way to 4 and it still won't let me install :-(
Anyone had a similar experience and maybe found a solution?

    June 23, 2011 - 8:31pm

I have the same problem, even downloaded a fresh portable firefox but it refused to install rankchecker :-/

    June 23, 2011 - 10:23pm

I went to about:config and disabled the compability check, it still didn't work, what else could I try. Also tried manual install, no luck...

    June 23, 2011 - 11:41pm

we should have a version for Firefox 5 out this weekend

    June 24, 2011 - 8:34am

Seems like all 3 tools fail to get installed on FF 3.6.18! Can you please fix this.?

    June 24, 2011 - 11:29am

yes, I'm sure it will be taken care of. Seems like the plugin download got corrupted somehow and it won't work at any version of firefox at the moment, at least I couldn't get it too.

    June 24, 2011 - 8:41pm

They now work with Firefox 4 and 5, but do not work with Firefox 3 anymore.

    June 24, 2011 - 5:35pm

rank checker could not be installed firefox ..... version is not compatible for rank checker damn it... :(

please post if any one have any solution of this problem...

    --thanks in advance :)

    June 25, 2011 - 10:19am

Seems like no one gets the tools installed at the moment, but I'm sure if we sit back and wait the developers will do their magic soon. :-)

    June 26, 2011 - 3:01am

so they should all work, so long as you are using Firefox 4 or Firefox 5

    June 26, 2011 - 7:02pm

For me at least the problem remains on firefox 4.0 :-/
    I'll try with a version 5 later.

    June 29, 2011 - 5:18pm

    Hi,

Love Rank Checker. For some reason when I export to CSV only the column headers appear- no keywords, rankings, domains, nada. Using FF 5.0.

    Thanks in advance!

    nburns

    June 30, 2011 - 8:31am

I can't save CSV either in FF 5.0 - only the column headers.

    :-) Bo

    June 30, 2011 - 3:04pm

Greetings, I am also encountering the issue of "non exporting of results" to my CSV document, I only get the headers. This seems to be a hit and mix issue, if I continue trying to run a much smaller list, I find on the 3 or 4th try it seems to start allowing the exporting of results...like priming the pump. Other times, I have closed my FF browser and restarted...I have not hit on one specific thing that is consistent...One thing, I noticed that newly added "Keyword group:" and "Updated: " fields don't really indicate to me whether I will be able to export the data or not.
    I am currently on FF5 w/ 1.8.7 of rank checker.....HELP!

    June 30, 2011 - 4:55pm

Same problem as other recent comments, I can't export my results. All I get are the column headings.

    Using FF5 and RC 1.8.7

    June 30, 2011 - 5:25pm

Don't know if this will help, but after a number of unsuccessful attempts to get rank checker to export this morning, I finally tried entering 1 entry in the "keyword" field and my domain in the "Domain" field and ran that one query. After getting my result, I attempted to export and sure enough was able to export the data. I then ran about 10 queries using the "Add Multiple Keywords" as a second test and again was able to export the results, I then proceeded on with my tasks without further issues. However, this is not the end all fix....if I quit for a while or start the next day, I have to start over again.....

    June 30, 2011 - 6:57pm

I've tried doing just one word and one domain several times on different computers and I can never get anything to export.

    Thanks for the thought though

    June 30, 2011 - 6:57pm

Same issue as above posters. Export to .csv only has column headers. Was able to produce a valid export once, but this seemed random and I have not been able to repeat. Could this be a FF5 issue? Please fix as I have been using this tool for 3 years, and I love it.
    Running FF5 with RankChecker 1.8.7

    June 30, 2011 - 8:09pm

As I referenced on May 3, above. I upgraded to Firefox 5, and I'm still having the issue.

    July 2, 2011 - 1:20pm

Hi Aaaron, I love this tool, I 've used it for the last three years.
In the last two days it does not check data from Bing.
Is it a software problem or my pc trouble?
    Thanks

    July 3, 2011 - 3:45pm

it should work on Bing now

    July 3, 2011 - 10:25pm

    Good, now it works.
    Thanks

    July 5, 2011 - 5:51pm

Aaron, Can you please help me get it to start showing Bing results again?

    July 4, 2011 - 3:13am

    Hi

The latest version of the tool for Firefox 5.0 is not exporting Data. Whenever I export a ranking report, it saves a empty file only with field names. It also does not copy the content from the tool to an excel file manually. I hope you can fix this.

P.S.: It is also not showing results from BING. :(
    Regards

    July 4, 2011 - 10:10am

Please fix scrambled Google results for .co.uk & .ie (either return zero result or /target..., rather than clean URL)

    July 4, 2011 - 4:41pm

I am also having continuing problems with Bing not posting results.

Has anyone isolated the problem and found a resolution for the intermittent "not exporting any of the reported results" issue or the newest "Bing not reporting results" issue?
Regarding the Intermittent issue, I have had found that if I test with 1 query and am unable to export that result, then hit "clear" a couple of times, and run that single query once again, I am able to export successfully. At this point, I can usually begin running my queries without issue.
I see in the post between Arron and pswpromotion, some resolution regarding the Bing issue must have been offered....can that resolution be posted for others to try?

Thanks to all for the feedback here.

    July 4, 2011 - 6:01pm

This tool is very handy even though I was not able to export csv. I set the wait time for 4 seconds, and while the tool was running a long list, I was doing some other searches online and Google blocked me for suspicious traffic, I answered the capcha and all was fine. I should probably use smaller batches of keywords with longer than 4 seconds delay. It's a great free tool, better than some I have paid for. Is there a work-around for exporting?

    Thanks!!!

    July 5, 2011 - 1:22pm

I need help!!! I'm not getting Bing results either. Any word on solving this issue?

    Thanks

    July 6, 2011 - 12:06am

just update the extension to the most recent version.

    July 6, 2011 - 2:07pm

Hello- Myself and a few other employees recently upgraded to Firefox 5.0 and upgraded the compatible rank checker. However, for the last 5 days, it runs fine, but when you export to a CSV file, the file is empty except for the column headers. Any idea why or how to fix this?! It's an emergency!

    July 6, 2011 - 3:49pm

I am having the same issue with Rank Checker.
I think this is a great tool and have been using it without issue for some time. I can only be hopeful that the SEO Book team can resolve this issue, as this is one of my favored SEO tools, free or otherwise.

    July 6, 2011 - 10:56pm

...for our paid clients, but we can't investigate any usage issues for over a half-million people on a 1-on-1 basis while still having time left for actually running a real business.

    July 12, 2011 - 8:30am

I am having the same issue that a few others mentioned. FF5, and whenever I export the results to CSV it is just the headers. I also tried selecting all the results and doing a "copy all"...and that only grabs the headers as well. Ideas? Thanks!

    July 12, 2011 - 8:51pm

    THANK YOU!

    July 6, 2011 - 7:13pm

I had issues with receiving (-) for ALL bing results for the past couple of days so in a moment of brilliance (or lack of) I uninstalled the rank checker extension. Try as I might for the past few hours I cannot seem to re-install the program regardless of how many times I click on download now or sign in . My IT department advised that the links on the page must be down and to contact the support desk. Can you send me the link please?

    July 6, 2011 - 10:55pm

...to Firefox 5 before downloading the new extension.

    July 7, 2011 - 8:55pm

    Aaron,

Love the extension! I was wondering if there was a way to remove just some of the older report data. I did a first run report, then scheduled it to run every 30 days. I then ran it manually a few times before the first 30-day autorun. I'd like to remove the data from those manual runs. Is that possible?

    Thanks!

    July 8, 2011 - 7:44pm

on this front. you could do it now if you know how to edit the sqlite database directly...but we haven't baked anything directly into the extension yet

    July 7, 2011 - 9:42pm

The upgrade to Firefox 5 didn't work at first, but it gave me another idea. I uninstalled Firefox completely before installing the newest version, and IT WORKED!! Bing results are coming across perfectly as well. Thanks Aaron!

    July 8, 2011 - 5:50pm

To those who had problems running scheduled tasks in the past, have you found any fixes?

My scheduled tasks used to work fine but when I switched to FF5, they don't run any more. My presets run fine if I do it manually.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

    July 11, 2011 - 1:51am

    Hi there,

I'm using FF5 and installed rank checker but it's not working. The START button does not come out after adding the keywords. Please help?

    July 11, 2011 - 6:42am

I am checking rankings on google.com in India with personalised results turned off. There is a lot of variation in results of tool and manual checking. For one of the keywords, the tool show that the site is ranked on 49 but on manual checking, I am no where in top 150 results. Does the tool show actual rankings as visible on google.com if anyone is searching in America?

    July 13, 2011 - 3:42pm

    Aaron,

I used sqlitebrowser 200 b1 to view the data in the sqlite db. I exported the kws_data table as CSV, opened the CSV in Excel, deleted the offending date ranges, saved the CSV, imported it into the sqlite db as kws_data_new, deleted kws_data, and then renamed kws_data_new to kws_data. The db shows the data, but when I open Rank Checker in FireFox, it shows all zeroes across the board. Was my method faulty? Is there another table I need to modify?

    Thanks!

    July 13, 2011 - 3:49pm

I am an idiot, or at least was not paying close enough attention. I mistakenly renamed the table "kws_data" instead of "kw_data". I fixed that issue, and Rank Checker now displays the rankings as expected. Thanks!

    July 13, 2011 - 3:43pm

    Hello,

I'am having a problem with Rankchecker and the SEO Toolbar.

I changed my computer, still with Windows 7 but I can't even install them anymore.

Firefox says that the version is not compatible with my Firefox version.

I tried different Firefox version but still doens't work.

    Is anybody fixed this?

    July 15, 2011 - 5:18pm

I am not getting results from Bing in the rank Checker, even though I have updated to the latest version.

    July 16, 2011 - 3:42am

...logged into a Bing account of some type? Do you have any conflicting extensions? Where are you searching from?

    July 20, 2011 - 5:21pm

Your Rank Tracker tool is the greatest. It is very generous of you to provide this freely to us, Thank You!!!
I have 2 domains with 10 keywords each, everything has been working fine, I run Rank Tracker everyday.
Today it stopped working returning only one search for the very first keyword for Google and that is it.
The page just keeps loading. Everything is updated and I did a new install of everything but did not help.
Any advice will be very much appreciated. I am a future customer in waiting.

    Thanks

I have the same issue as Joe above. When I unchecked yahoo search in the options, it would run completely for google and bing,. Then I unchecked google and bing in the options and tried to run just a yahoo search and not getting any results.

    Regards,
    Rick

In most (perhaps not all yet, but certainly most) major markets Yahoo! is powered by Bing or Google. We will likely remove Yahoo! as an option in an upcoming version, as it is largely a parallel of the data from the original search engine technology provider.

    July 21, 2011 - 2:07am

apsmacart, jrpalmer same issue. I unchecked yahoo and everything ok, but no yahoo results. (not that yahoo matters very much) :-p Would love to get a fix though.

    Thanks for the great tool!

I've been using Rank Checker for FireFox successfully for 7 months. Today when I tried to use it, when I press RUN it gets the Google rank for the first word on the list. Then it stalls and won't move forward with Yahoo or Bing for the first word, nor will it rank any other words. I end up having to close the app. I downloaded and reinstalled. I cleared the database. What else can I try?

    July 21, 2011 - 2:44pm

I've been using Rank Checker for FireFox successfully for a long time, getting updated when needed. Earlier this wee when I tried to use it, when I press RUN it gets the Google rank for the first word on the list and then stalls and won't move forward with Yahoo or Bing for the first word.

Please advise on how to update this :)

    July 21, 2011 - 4:01pm

I had the exact same problem as mentioned for two different computers. I updated my Firefox to the latest version, updated Rank Checker and it still stalls out. I attempted to remove Yahoo and Bing from options, but still no luck. I even rebooted my computer and no luck. Hopefully there's a simple trick to help us?

    July 21, 2011 - 7:12pm

I'm having the exact same issues as the last 3 people. Please let me know if anyone has a fix for it. Thank you!!

    July 21, 2011 - 7:38pm

I have removed Yahoo and Bing and it's working now - just fyi.

    July 22, 2011 - 3:59am

I keyed in the domain name and keyword and then click add. I then click start but the rank checker just won't run the tool. Can anyone help?

    July 22, 2011 - 3:16pm

Same as many above... First Google Result shows, then the tool gets stuck on Yahoo! and I have to close it to move on. I opened the "Options" menu, unchecked "Yahoo" and now it is working. I guess we just do without Yahoo!

    July 23, 2011 - 10:01pm

Is there any problem with RANK CHECKER?......all the results for yahoo are all "--"........Are you experiencing the same issue guys???

    July 25, 2011 - 8:39am

Hello everyone, longtime reader but first-time writer!

I upgraded to Firefox 5, but the RankChecker icon does not appear automatically in the toolbar even though it's listed in the add-ons page as functioning. I cannot add it manually to the toolbar, either. So, essentially, I cannot figure a way to use it now. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 5, but that did nothing...

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

    Sam

    July 25, 2011 - 9:05am

I'm sticking with Firefox 4.01 for now because of the presence of too many bugs in the new browser. Is there a way to reinstall an old version of Rank Checker that is still compatible with this browser? Thanks again for anyone's thoughts!

    July 27, 2011 - 10:16am

    Hi there.
I have been using Rank Checker for a year now and was amazed how easy and more importantly how 'free' it is.

Unfortunately over the last month I have seen such a huge decline in accuracy for the search engine results.
Rank Checker is now so inaccurate (often out by 50 positions or more) I now cant trust it and have to check the results manually for my clients which is agonising as I know it worked so well in the past.
I'm not sure if if the panda / farmer updates or other recent algorithm changes have affected the tool but I cant use it anymore.
Anyone else noticed this? Anything I can do to fix it or any updates coming soon?
All my searches for for Google UK, within the UK.
    Thanks

    July 27, 2011 - 1:49pm

We of course have to stay current with data extraction, but haven't changed it beyond then. So the issue is likely on your end. (Either you have personalization turned on or something else like that).

    July 28, 2011 - 10:22am

    Aaron,

we are seeing the same as 'the law84': Rank Tracker results are very different to actual Google Listings.

Rank Tracker settings are set to not use personalized search results, search Google.co.uk only, country set to UK, database optimized.

Any idea what else we could do to get Rank Tracker accuracy?

    K

    July 27, 2011 - 12:32pm

    Hi Aaron
As with many of the above I have issues running rank checker on yahoo and bing. So referencing your comment on the 21st July have you now removed these two directories from the checker? If so what would you recommend as an alternative?

    July 27, 2011 - 3:00pm

    Hi

I have the exact same problem as sjscott80 / Sam. If anybody finds a way around this please post about it here.

    Thank / Thomas

    August 1, 2011 - 1:40pm

Rank Checker listings don't seem to be in line with actual Google listings anymore.

Have you recently checked listings with the tool and compared to Google listings?

    August 3, 2011 - 1:09pm

Thanks Aaron for the greap app, simple and efficient to use!

However I am also experiencing same issues with google.co.uk as the law 84 and karlos 7... Need to do the checks manually again...

Country set, google instant off, personalization off etc... :)

    August 10, 2011 - 6:35pm

    Hello everyone,

My company is tracking our ongoing SEO for a client, and my boss and and I have gotten wildly-different Google rankings in the last few hours for about 200 keywords that all the pages on the site are targeting. At first we thought it was a result of the (poor) client website having duplicate-content and keyword-spamming penalties and issues (that we are addressing), but I see that other people seem to be having issues as well recently...

    Am I the only one?

    August 10, 2011 - 8:19pm

I am using FireFox 5.0 and Rank Checker 1.8.12 set to Google.com, personalization is off, delay set to 2. I check once a month. Both on 7/14/11 and again today, I ran my list of about 100 keywords. In the Google results, I only got results if the rank was 10 or less (although I did get one result that was 104) . I manually checked all of the keywords that resulted in "-" and most all had results in the 21 to 145 range (A few do still return no results under 200). This problem appears to have just started last month. Could it be related to a recent update?

Also, for Yahoo, this month I only got results for the first 27 keywords and then "-" for all the rest.
I love your Add-on. I sure hope you can fix it.

    August 11, 2011 - 6:36pm

    turn off Google Instant

    August 16, 2011 - 1:46pm

    Arron:
I checked and I do have instant off. Tried again and still see the same results - no results =>10 (except for one at 109) and Yahoo stops after 27th result.

    November 10, 2011 - 10:18pm

I am having this same issue and have been for several months now--it's forced us to move to other tools. My instant search is off as well.

    November 11, 2011 - 8:17am

    ...we will investigate the issue.

    January 12, 2012 - 6:19pm

    Aaron:
I've had the problem where Rank checker only reports results 1-10 and >=100. I was just playing with my Google settings., trying various things, turning on and off Instant and personalized results, 10, 50 100 results per page. I'm not sure exactly which change made it happen but suddenly Rank Checker was returning all results.

I tried to go back and turn on Instant - still works. I turned on personalized results - still works. Turned them both off - still works. I'm not sure how but maybe this will help you figure out why it wasn't working.

    January 13, 2012 - 2:20am

glad to hear you got it working :)

    August 13, 2011 - 1:18am

    Hi,

Great extension. Thank you very much for creating such a useful utility and then giving it away for free.

One question though. I moved from one computer, to another, and would love to transfer my list in Rank Tracker.

I exported it to a csv file, but am unable to figure out how to import the file in the other computer.

I tried searching for where the data is stored but was unsuccessful there also.

Is there a way to transfer my domain and keyword list from a csv file?

    Thank you again,
    Steve

on Windows XP it's location is

    c: / documents and settings / my username / application data / mozilla / firefox / profiles / someweirdstring / rankchecker.sqlite

I think application data was a hidden folder
    and
    someweirdstring is like brm9cmz3.default

    ----

and on Windows Vista it is located at something like

c: , users, owner, appdata, roaming, mozilla, firefox, profiles, weird string

I run Vista with UAC turned off, and recently experienced a well-documented problem where registry permissions were corrupted. In my case it caused Office 2010 to run through configuration every time I started it.

At the same time RankChecker stopped working. With only Google.com checked, after a database optimization, it doesn't return any rankings and just rotates its little marker forever. Does RankChecker use the registry, and if so what keys? I'd like to check that their permissions are right.

This is RankChecker 1.8.13 with Firefox 5.0.1.

    August 22, 2011 - 12:18pm

I have solved my problem. I turned off the "HTTPS Everywhere 1.0.1" extension for the site "Google Search". These two extensions appear to be incompatible.

    September 6, 2011 - 3:31pm

Great firefox plugin, thank you SeoBook!
I searched all the feedback threads but couldn't find anyone else with this problem so maybe i'm being dumb, I only just started using it today so I'm sorry if I've missed something obvious.

I made some presets and scheduled 4 tasks (about 50 keywords across 4 sites) to run during my lunch hour. 4 hours later I'm getting the following message when I try to use Rank Checker:
"The Rank Checker scheduler is running. Can't open the main window now".
I'd have thought 4 hours was plenty of time for it to run my rank checks? Is there a way to manually disable the scheduler or reset it or something like that? All Rank Checker menu options (Run, Presets, Options, Scheduled Tasks are returning the same message so I can't use it at all.

    September 7, 2011 - 3:13pm

Aaron - LOVE your add-on, I have been using it now for a couple years and never had a problem until now. I am not getting results in BING only the dashes. I manually checked with BING and my keywords are still in the top 10 positions. I am using 1.8.13 with both FF 5 and 6 (just upgraded to check if that was the issue).

Help (and keep up the good work!)

    September 7, 2011 - 7:50pm

Thank you SO MUCH for this tool, it is incredibly useful and I hugely appreciate that you're giving it out for free -- at this stage of my IM life, I sadly could not afford to pay, but I'll remember you guys when I hit the real money. :-)

Commenting here today to confirm Greg's experience, above -- using Rank Checker today, I also got no Bing results at all, just dashes, while the other two engines gave normal results. Using with FF6.

    September 13, 2011 - 12:08pm

Hey - I am checking some rankings for the site "mirena.com" - when using rank checker - the keyword "contraceptives family is complete" shows no ranking on google.com

    However

Searching on google.com (personalised search off) it is clearly in position 4 (6 if on 100 searches per page) but the result is a video from the page (still links to the page).

I have noticed quite a few of these video results that just do not appear.

    September 15, 2011 - 11:19am

    Hi Aaron

I have a continuing problem with the Rank Checker plugin which is awesome by the way!

I can get results back for google and Bing but everytime I search on Yahoo it hangs at the first result. Is there a solution or something causing this problem?

I'm using FF 3.6.22 and my preferences are set to 12 seconds so a fairly large pause between queries. It was working fine up until about 3-4 months ago but now it will not return any Yahoo results even if I specify to use Yahoo only.

Thanks for any support you can offer.

    September 15, 2011 - 12:03pm

...you can turn Yahoo! off & just use the other 2. In most large global markets Yahoo! has transitioned to Bing. The only exception there is Japan, where Yahoo! is using Google.

Yahoo! still powers their own results in Singapore & the Philippines & maybe a few other Asian countries, but not many.

Dear Aaron, I just downloaded Rank Checker, thanks for this great tool!
However, I can't export the results to CSV because at the end of the check the button(s) stay inactive. What do you recommend to do?

    September 19, 2011 - 7:02pm

I was able to use this awesome tool for a couple of days with great results but now I can not add keywords. Nothing happens when I try to add using a single keyword or using the multiple keywords window. :(

Not sure what I did to cause it to stop working properly.

    September 24, 2011 - 6:45pm

My rank Checker no longer pulls results, just spins & spins ferever. I heard their might be an incompatibility issue with the most recent Firefox version updates...is that true. I last updated to Firefox 3.6.22. What must I do to get Rank checker working again?

    November 8, 2011 - 8:29pm

I had that same problem Stuart, and the only way I could get it to work is to turn off checking Yahoo!. Then Google and Bing worked just fine and it completed my check. I first tried downloading the latest version of Firefox (version 8), then the latest version of the Rank Checker, only to find out that the Rank Checker is incompatible with Firefox 8. It would be nice if there were a page that listed which versions of Firefox the Rank Checker will work with! Maybe there is and I just can't find it. Anyway, try turning of the Yahoo! check and I bet it will work!

    September 28, 2011 - 3:04am

FF7 is now available for download but Im hesitating on updating my browser as it might cause compatibility issues with Rank Checker. Will Rank Checker work on the latest version of Firefox? thanks!

    September 28, 2011 - 8:26pm

    ...it supports FF7 just fine.

    October 8, 2011 - 1:10am

I did upgrade to FF7and unfortunately firefox says its not compatible!

    October 8, 2011 - 6:28am

    September 30, 2011 - 10:30am

(Don`t use Google personalized search... is checked)
Why I get different results with Market Samurai and Rank Checker?

RC is giving lower position - is this because of clustering? Can you be more specific with "If you add &num=100 to the address bar in Google the results should be fairly well aligned with our tool. " - don`t know what to do.

Your time and effort is highly appreciated!

    September 30, 2011 - 4:12pm

Tried this on two different computers and got same result.

The tool will not do anything after I enter a domain name and KW. Pressing Add has no effect. Same happens in the Add multiple KWs window.

    I can't Add. I can't Save. I can't Start.

Would love to get Rankchecker working, but it's not looking hopeful. Any suggestions?

    September 30, 2011 - 6:03pm

Did you add domain without http://www, like this:
    example.com?

    October 2, 2011 - 1:10pm

Yep, tried it with and without. No joy :-(

    October 28, 2011 - 3:03pm

    Hi,
I installed it, run , paste in domain and keyword - but "Start" button is blocked all the way - what else it needs to work?!

    November 3, 2011 - 4:12pm

Hi--I just got all your tools re-started, as I've taken on a new project. I had not tried Rank Checker before, but it's exactly what I've been looking for. I have one problem - when I go to export the data, I get the error message in Windows "no items match your search". I've tried both with just one keyword and several, tried uninstalling & reinstalling Rank Checker, but still can't export. (I'm using Firefox v. 7.0.1, and Windows 7.) I saw where people were having this problem last month & in August, but I didn't see any comments about a resolution. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    November 3, 2011 - 9:35pm

    @dordze
I had the same issue. Try to delete keyword group, and create it again.

    @sddalg
I dont know... If I were you, I would try with a new firefox profile... (Start/Run: firefox.exe -P)

    November 5, 2011 - 9:57am

    Hi, Thanx!
BTW position is that the real position, counting from zero to e.g. 1.000.000 or the position of the page you're on? Unfortunately even though when I use google.nl, it's not working for .nl extensions. Pity. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I realize my keyword is below Google's five (5) "Shopping Results" items, I was wondering if Rank Checker counts them as a SERP item?

For example, will Rank Checker rank me 6 if there are 5 Shopping Results items above my site? Thanks.

    November 7, 2011 - 5:26am

...we do not count shopping results.

    November 10, 2011 - 10:27pm

I'm having a problem mentioned above where only results 1-10 and 100-110 actually show up. Obviously, this makes Rank Checker effectively useless...I read the above saying I needed to turn instant search off, but I've always had it off. I've reinstalled, I've updated, and this has persisted through a few different versions of FireFox at this point. I'd really appreciate some assistance in fixing this!

    November 21, 2011 - 10:10am

Is it possible to download rankChecker in a Version suitable for Firefox 3.6? Reasons beyond my influce make me stick to this version of Firefox...

    November 27, 2011 - 10:55am

I have used a keyword with my domain name and I get the position of 7 returned by the tool but when I check directly with Google (UK) the domain name is actually in position 3 and 4. I think this might be because of the clustering method used by the tool, with it using 100 results at a time? Or its adding the two positions together?

However the domain name doesnt appear again in the results for quite a while (bottom of page 9 - so position 99?) and I dont see why it cant just tell me what my highest position is within the results - Surely this is the most important figure? At the very least I think you should be able to check a box in the options that forces the tool to return only the highest position.

    November 30, 2011 - 3:44pm

I am an avid champion of RankChecker, thank Aaron. I have noticed in the past few days that it is timing out due to Google detecting automated requests much more frequently than normal. I usually run checks on 30-50 keywords at a time and can get through these with no problems. Now, the tool seems to be getting hung up after just 5-10 checks and blocked by Google. Anything change with Google that would be causing this to happen?

    December 1, 2011 - 4:42am

    doing that should help.

    December 1, 2011 - 3:38pm

Yes, I tried various intervals and found that the checker was completing a higher percentage of queries at 7 sec+
I was previously at 3 sec, so perhaps Google has tightened the noose on checking for automated scripts a bit. thank you again.

    January 11, 2012 - 12:54am

I like the potential of this tool, but I can't get it to work. The 'bulk upload of keywords' will not run the rank check, nor will it save the keywords in the system once the program is closed. When manually adding keywords the tool will process but only reports '-' for results even with keywords that currently rank in the top 10 for our site.

Is rank checker broken? I am using FF 9.01.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

    January 27, 2012 - 7:48pm

...in terms of query time delay & personalization of the SERPs.

If neither of those fix the issue then try to optimize database option. If that doesn't work then try the repair database option.

    January 24, 2012 - 9:43am

First of all thanks for this great tool that i'm using since years to run my seo jobs.
Since the last update i am experiencing a major problem with the google.it search: every time that i run the serp search rank checker return on google.it always blank - although i'm sure that isn't true!
can you check that and fix .it?

    Thanks again guys!

    January 27, 2012 - 7:48pm

    ...as I wrote above.

let us know if that works for you.

    February 2, 2012 - 12:17pm

When will there be an update of Rank Checker for FF 10 ??

    February 3, 2012 - 8:46am

...support FF10 (if you are using the most recent version)

    February 6, 2012 - 10:07am

Because i cannot update the operative system and so also firefox, last version for this os is 3.6.22, i need the older version of rank checker that work very fine until the update. The component is disappear from firefox menu.

    Best regards

    March 14, 2012 - 5:29am

    Hi Aaron,

I'm trying to match RankChecker results to manual browser results with some relatively significant inconsistencies (#14 manual check, and #24 in RankChecker results). I've verified these results on other computers in different locations.

I've done everything possible to disable personalized search from my browsers, including using a combination of Yoast's plugin, and 'Incognito Mode' in Chrome and 'Private Browsing' in Firefox. I stay signed out of Google and my cookies are cleared for these searches as well.

I have RankChecker 1.8.18 on Firefox 10.0.2 for Ubuntu

    Is this scenario explainable?

    March 14, 2012 - 7:43am

...so if some of the other results get clustered on a larger page that can cause such a discrepancy

    March 27, 2012 - 8:53am

Hi, Rank Checker is missing google.com.cy and as a results we cannot check rankings for Cyprus, is it in your plans to add it anytime soon? Thanks

    March 30, 2012 - 6:48pm

I'm able to use rankchecker to get serp ranking data and save it but how do you get it to add new data from today to yesterday's data and get a cumulative dataset or CSV?

If I save today's data it overwrites yesterdays. But in the screenshot shown on the homepage for the plugin it shows a column for date in csv like this: "domain, keywor, date, google rank, google result URL, etc...."

    how?

    thanks!

    April 1, 2012 - 8:58am

and then export it to CSV & analyze the data in something like Microsoft Office Excel or OpenOffice

    Hi,
Just downloaded rankchecker. I cant get accurate results for keyword rankings - they are skewed towards my browser, not really the true results . Iv'e done everything - erased google history, logged out of google, cleared cookies, checked the "dont use personalized web results" box, downloaded new firefox, etc. Just cant seem to find a keyword ranker that doesnt skew the results towards my browser. To compare it to "clean" results, I look at Google through pagewash or startpage.com.

Ive tried others (cuterank) but always get the same - personalized google results that vastly improve my real rankings.

    Help?

    April 12, 2012 - 9:18am

I've been using this awesome tool for just over a year, but I can't
    a) add any more keywords to my list (or a new one) - is there a way to fix this? Using FF11 - tried optimising the database and that made no difference
    b) I can't work out how to schedule the task as the tools menu is missing in FF11

Any help would be much appreciated.

In the mean time I've just been running my old keywords, but I'd love to be able to add more.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Will you be introducing the option to set the google extension per group? I have domains that I'd like to monitor the results for, but some groups need to check a different international version of Google to others and it would be great to have this option.

    Thanks,

I found out this awesome ability to work and gather data in background, but cannot get the results.. Everytime i try to open rankchecker error appears: the scehuler is running. (it supposed so, as i scheduled to run @10am) But how long it can run? After few hours I'm able to open it and see NONE of the gathered data from scheduler. If I manually run the checker data appears.. Does anyone has any clue? File permissions? free-member? too much presets? Please reply, looking forward,
    Mike

...doing a hard reset of Firefox should work to help clear such issues.

    April 27, 2012 - 4:03pm

Thanks for the fantastic plugin! I'm not seeing any results in Bing. I manually checked a few of my keywords and I do see the site in the results. Thanks for any help!

    April 27, 2012 - 4:39pm

...looks like Bing changed something. Will fix it soon.

    April 29, 2012 - 5:44am

Hi, I LOVE RankTracker and I used it regularly for many months and always got great results! Thanks for such a great free tool, and I'm sorry free users were jerks and gave you a hard time about your great free tool!

As of about a month ago RankTracker quit giving me ANY Google results. I have confirmed with the Google SE page that I DO have rank, even when I am not logged in to google and don't have personalized results checked.

I am upgraded to the latest RankChecker as of minutes ago and am using Firefox 11.0. I have tried not using my saved searches and instead entering new searches into RankTracker. Same results: just "-" where numbers should be.

I checked manually on google and I can't show you a jpg but this is copied from Google using SEOBook:

"Costa Rica Real Estate - Property For Sale Near San Ramon, Costa ...
    ranchosilencio.com/about.htm
Costa Rica Real Estate For Sale By Owner - Ocean View Lots, For Sale In San Ramon, Costa Rica, At Rancho Silencio.
    #5 | PR: 1 | Google Cache Date: ? | Traffic Value: 0 | Age: | del.icio.us: - | del.icio.us Page Bookmarks: - | "

As you can see I have #5 for the keyword "san ramon costa rica property". But it never shows up nor do any others for google for any of my web sites, I just checked.

What could possibly be causing this??? I looked for an answer on your site and didn't find anything under "rank check doesn't show google results" or "No google results" etc. Yes, it works fine for Bing and Yahoo.

Again, this always worked for google before and only recently quit working, about 2 months ago.

    April 29, 2012 - 5:47am

I'm sorry. I did not intend to create a link for my site. I just was copying the info from SEOBook on google to show you my rank and I forgot it had a live link in it. Please delete it if you wish, but PLEASE do answer my query! Thanks!

    May 6, 2012 - 5:47am

@seosoldier (and others with the same problem) if u are just getting '-' for rank position and u know u should be ranking, check to make sure u havent blocked googles javascript (google.com/gstatic.com) with something like the noscript plugin, i had the exact same problem and eventually after trial and error found that the rankchecker plugin does not get any results for google if google javascript is blocked in the main browser. hope it helps u out :)

@aaron thanks for the great plugin, just 1 quick query, whenever i have the rank checker window open it increases FF (versions 8~12) cpu usage significantly, even when it is not checking ranks and just open and idle in the background, any ideas what causes it?

    September 14, 2012 - 3:28pm

I am having the problem of '-' for all my listings. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Rank Tracker, and I don't have any script-blocking extensions installed. What else could be causing this problem?

    June 5, 2012 - 6:44pm

I don't seem to be getting any results for any of my website listings on Page 2 of Bing. They recently started showing 8 results on Page 1 of Bing and 12 on Page 2 (9-20), so maybe that has something to do with the issue?

    June 9, 2012 - 6:11am

...I just tested Bing & page 2 worked ok for me.

    June 9, 2012 - 3:46pm

I've been using Rank Checker for several years and LOVE it. However, with the recent Panda and Penguin updates, people are saying that automated checking of SERP rankings have to be done by an authorized tool. Is Rank Checker an authorized tool in the eyes of Google? Or will using it affect my SERPs in any way? Thanks!

    June 9, 2012 - 11:35pm

....why would it suddenly be your ranking problem?

Who are the stupid people claiming that rank checking needs to be done by an authorized tool? And what "authorized tools" are those ignorant wankers recommending?

    June 10, 2012 - 4:01pm

I'm looking at ALL the Google Guidelines and making sure I'm following them. In their guidelines, they say:

"Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google."

...and if you got hit by BOTH Penguin and Panda you are likely doing many things wrong.

It is always easier to blame others than to objectively evaluate one's own work though.

Also noticed the deflection from the above ... the "people are saying" people were never identified. Based on your willingness to cast blame on others, make stuff up & not objectively evaluate your own work, I would say you likely deserved to get penalized.

You probably needed to do your objective deep dive on the guidelines BEFORE you got penalized twice.

    Lesson learned. Hopefully!

    August 9, 2012 - 2:57pm

It is an incredibly useful tool. I really appreciate you making it available. I do have issues with getting locked out after doing 100 queries or so even if I put the search query frequency at 3 seconds or so. Is anyone getting the same results? If so, what frequency is the sweet spot?

    August 9, 2012 - 10:01pm

...dial up the delay ... even something like 9 seconds is good.

    August 23, 2012 - 8:37pm

    Hi Aaron,

Thanks for all the work you guys put in to Rank Checker. It's a great tool that I've grown to rely on. I've noticed a big difference lately in the results I'm getting vs. doing a manual search of Google, Yahoo, and Bing. So has one of my clients. RC gives a rank result of 45 and the actual results done using google directly and via a proxy service (to totally circumvent any personalization) is 12 on a test keyword. This kind of disparity happens on all keywords I've been testing. The sites are actually doing much better than RC indicates. I've cleared all history, cookies, etc and reinstalled the SEOBook toolbar and RC as well to try to debug why I might be getting differing results. Any thoughts or suggestions about this? Running FF 14.0.1. Thanks!

    August 23, 2012 - 9:25pm

...if one pulls 100 results at a time & 30 of them are trip advisor, a #12 can appear as #45

we would pull 10 results per page, but then we would have a bunch of stupid jackasses complaining about the tool being slow or it causing them to get blocked from Google. everything is a trade off.

    August 24, 2012 - 1:55pm

I am outside of the US and wanting to use the US google for my reporting. In the past I have been using this web site: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/websites/google.com/googl... to test as if I search from google.com directly from where I am the results are still incorrect.

Many keyphrases on my site are positions 1 - 10 and the Rank Checker tools is showing them at 30+. Just checking the "google.com" in the settings doesn't seem to be using the proper US google results. How can I get this to work with the US results?

    thanks!

    October 21, 2012 - 9:19pm

I don't seem to be getting accurate results as well. I did everything I could think of - I've even installed the latest version of Firefox. Still no accurate results. What can cause this or what ain't I doing right?

    August 30, 2012 - 3:51am

Where is the History file on a Mac? It must be named something else, because I can't find any file with "rankchecker" in the name.

    November 6, 2012 - 6:57am

Thanks for the great tool! Earlier I tried to do the same with Google Custom Search API but found out that it puts limit on number of requests per day. The limit is 100 which is too small.
Is there any limit on the number of keyword searches for this tool too?
And if I use it extensively, will there be danger of Google blocking my IP address?

    November 15, 2012 - 1:23am

    HI Aaron,
First off your tool rocks! I was wondering if when checking ranking it is looking for the rank of any page on the site or simply the home page. Also will I get different results if I enter the site with or without the www if 301 redirects have not been implemented.

Thanks again, I appreciate you keeping this tool available for free.

    November 15, 2012 - 5:12pm

... the non-www version that should return either version of the domain if it ranks, homepage or subpage. The ranking that is returned will be the highest ranking if both versions rank (though typically only one version will rank at any given time, due to duplicate content filters).

    December 16, 2012 - 11:07am

    Hello,
    excuse my bad English.
I installed Rank Checker in Firefox.

    Options:
    goggle.de, google.com, Yahoo/Germany, Bing
    wait 61 seconds

On both google NO result, but Yahoo/Germany, Bing perfect results.
Even after days I wait, bcause perhaps blocked by google, no google results.
Personalized I tried off and on.

    April 17, 2013 - 3:17pm

I have attempted now on 2 different computers to try running the Rank Checker and I cannot get it to work. I cannot submit/add a URL with single keyword or multiple keywords - Windows 8, and windows 7. I can however, access old stored files for seeraches run back in 2011 that were stored on the Win 7 computer... I read others have similar porblems... any solution?

    April 17, 2013 - 4:23pm

Hi! I've just downloaded this and it seems like a great (and unique!) tool. I'd appreciate any advice I can get on this:

9/ 10 times the Google result is "-", though I know the terms are highly ranked
The results for Yahoo and Bing seem to be working fine

I saw some commets on this earlier up the chain, but I disabled Google Instant and made sure Java was enabled to no avail-- any idea what the problem may be?

    Thanks!

    April 25, 2013 - 7:16am

Hello and thx for your great tools :-)

I tracked one site of mine for a few days, but three days ago Google stopped showing up... as I'm not alone with this do you hav'n update for us as what may be causing this and what can be done about it?

    Regards, Ralf.

    April 26, 2013 - 12:24pm

This seems to be a very common problem that you can can find threads on all over the internet but not one person has a solution of a fix for. Why?

    It is very frustrating!

    April 26, 2013 - 5:49pm

Aaron and the rest of the staff. I cannot thank you enough for creating and updating this tool. It's a tool I've used since it's been introduced to both learn and maintain SEO for a number of businesses. The Rank Checker Add on has played a key role in this and I can't express my thanks to all of you.

As I said before, I've never had any issue using the tool since I started in 2009. Within the last few days, the tracking for Google has stopped working. I've tried it on multiple computers and different IP addresses. I've deleted and reinstalled in.

I know you all are incredibly busy. If you let me know if there's some sort of issue on my end or if there's an issue with the tool, I'd appreciate it. If you've decided to make a paid version, I'd be interested too.

Thanks again for creating and supporting this product! I look forward to an update.

    April 30, 2013 - 4:44pm

Hi there. For years I've been using Rank Checker to excellent effect. Even though I can only check 15 or 20 keywords at a time, or else I get Google blocked. When I do get blocked, then usually I only have to solve a captca or wait a half hour and it works again. Now it's been days and I get NO results at all, even though Google works just fine in a regular browser.

Please advise how I might be able to correct the situation. This occurs with multiple computers in the same office.

    Thanks much!!

    May 2, 2013 - 12:07pm

    that should fix it

    May 2, 2013 - 2:04pm

    ITS FIXED!!! Awesome!!

    May 13, 2013 - 10:31pm

Just installed Rank Checker with latest version of Firefox. I created a keyword group. After I click Open for it nothing happens. List of keywords does not appear in main window. Start button is grayed out. Closed Firefox and restarted. Same problem. Please advise.

    May 18, 2013 - 9:18am

Maybe I'm not doing something right or there's a glitch, but I can't seem to get this to work with YouTube videos. Does this work with videos? Is it supposed to?

When I enter a YouTube URL and a KW, nothing happens. But it works for standard URLs, so I don't think it's an issue with Rank Tracker but with YouTube URLs. No? Yes? Please advise.

These days, tracking video in Google search results is very, very important. If this isn't a feature in your software yet, please consider adding it. I'm still looking for a good solution that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Thought I'd found it but no joy. :-(

Keep up the good work. I'm sure this is a bear to stay on top of. TX.

Bing rankings don't seem to be working?

    May 28, 2013 - 10:34pm

Hi Aaron - thanks for a great tool and a great site for really trustworthy advice and information.

I have been having a problem for a few weeks now but have tried another rank checker in the meantime. Would rathter use yours but it is frozen fro me. not sure why. here is the message I get when I click on any of the dropdown menu items. It seems to be installed fine. And it is the latest version. It is set to autoupdate.

The RankChecker scheduler is running. Can't open the main window now.

Would love anyone's help to get this figures out. I have searched for this in the thread here but did not find it (CTRL F Search for phrases)

    Thanks,

    Don

    that might help you

    May 31, 2013 - 5:05pm

Even with several seconds put into this setting we get blocked by the search engines when we are tracking lists of more that 15 keywords. Yahoo is the worst about this, with Google coming in a close second.

I have found that goosing up the setting to about 12 or 13 seconds delay helps. But its much slower to use. Running as a background process is good though.

Would it be possible that this coutesy setting could have a slight randomization function, say something like plus or minus 2 or 3 seconds relative to the target setting, in order to more closely create a human activity immulation of sorts?

Also, any thoughs about how to automate the rank checking process, includins saving and exporting the results?

    Thanks!

    Tom...

    June 5, 2013 - 3:28pm

Let me begin by saying that Rank Checker is a great tool and i use it frequently. I have seldom ran into any issues, but yestereday i noticed that my site was ranking on page 1 for keywords: 'Diving, Scuba and Scuba Dive'. If this were true, i'd be asking for a raise, but i do not believe it to be so.
What i believe is happening, is that Rank Checker is returning local map resutls. This is true for searches in my local area, but outside the area, our site would show up.
In Rank Checker Settings, i 'checked' the "Dont use personalized results", but it still returns local resutls. How do i get the true global rank stats?

    Thank you for any help
    Darren.

    Hi,

Just installed this plugin. It's a really great solution - saves me tons of time.

The only problem I see is Bing results missing as others indicated before me. I cleared my cookies and cache, and then allowed 3rd party cookies but it did not work. Do you have any solution for this?

    November 18, 2013 - 2:22am

Hi Aaron. Love Rank Checker, but can't seem to get Bing results to come up. I see others are reporting the same. What would you suggest? Thanks so much for your help!

    December 8, 2013 - 6:05am

Am really stuck with Bing. Is anyone having luck with it? I've tried various suggestions I've read here, but can't seem to get it to work.

    December 10, 2013 - 1:22am

HI Aaron. I am fairly new to this but I love Rank Checker! It's Fantastic.
I having a problem with the scheduled tasks. The scheduled tasks run - but take a long time. I have left it running for a few hours but still get "The RankChecker scheduler is running. Can't open the main window now.", no matter how long I leave it for.
The only way I can get it to stop is to close all browser windows in firefox - but then I lose all my data.
Any advice into why this is happening? or how to get around this?

    January 22, 2014 - 9:27pm

    Bing rankings? Anyone?

    February 20, 2014 - 9:16am

When trying to use the "add multiple keyword' box I simply cannot get it to work anymore. I reinstalled Firefox (v27.0.1) and the Rankchecker addon but problem remains. MAC OS 10.9.1
Do you have a fix for this?
    Thanks.

    February 24, 2014 - 1:31am

Hi Aaron, Amazing product! However, as of late, every time I clicked on the link to run Rank Checker, the window displaying the page has expanded bit by bit. It has now expanded to the point where the borders of the page extend past the viewing size of my monitor. It is now to the point where I can no longer see the bar at the time nor the 'Start' and 'Export to CSV' buttons at the bottom. Indeed, all I see now is a competetly white screen rendering Rank Checker inaccessible and useless. The problem started a few days ago wheh I noticed that when the window came up, it blotted out my Windows 7 task bar at the bottom. I removed it and re-installed and made sure I had the most up to date Firefox - it is still displaying the white screen.

    What now?

    Thank you.

    March 3, 2014 - 1:09am

I'm having the "white screen" issue also. It appears to open to a wider window that IS resizable if you press the windows key/left click your mozilla firefox icon on the toolbat (if you have one pinned)/right click Rank Checker and Maximize window. It's a work arround but I hope it gets fioxed soon. GREAT tool!

    March 3, 2014 - 5:38am

thanks for the feedback Andy :)

    April 11, 2014 - 1:31am

I really like this tool and it has some very useful features. However, one thing that I though was lacking was the ability to save the search engine settings for each keyword group.
Also, in the video you say you can click on the domain to see that domain in the SERPs but it didn't work for me.

    April 28, 2014 - 1:42am

Hi,i want to have a check the tools, because i can't the real check keywords rank tools, thank you!

    May 2, 2014 - 11:00am

Seems like an insenely great idea to have a tool like this. Unfortunately my first keyword result came in 15 according to Rank Checker when in reality it's 30. (google.com).

Is there anyhting I should try to trouble-shoot this?

    May 13, 2014 - 12:54am

When I use the rankchecker tool, how come the full google filepaths no longer show. I am now only getting rank reports for the homepage of each site and not the actual file paths that the page ranks for anymore. Is this something you can fix because knowing which page actually ranks versus just the homepage is very helpful. Thanks and great tool!!

    May 15, 2014 - 1:25pm

I agree with the above comment.. I have been using this tool for over 4 years and this recent updated just showing the home page is not helpful at all.. in fact, it may cause me to find a completely different tool altogether.. it is sad, because up until today, I really liked this tool, but now it will cause me to do more work as I will actually have to check the search results manually to see which url is ranking, not all of us build links to just the home page...thanks for looking into a fix to make this what is was before today...

    May 16, 2014 - 9:35am

I am having the same problem with the url! With the last update only the homepage url is showing in the results and not the actual link. If you can fix this that would be great!

    May 19, 2014 - 5:51pm

It appears with the current update (I downloaded it today), the interior page filepaths are once again showing!! Thanks for this fix, this tool rocks!!

    May 30, 2014 - 12:22pm

I'm mac using FF 29.0.1 and do not get any Bing results. I have tired turning off Yahoo and re-running but no luck. I'm using www.lendingtree.com" for the domain and "home loans" for the keyword since I manually checked and that's coming up #1 or #2 consistently (in both Bing and Google). However, Google recognizes it and reports whereas Bing just shows "--" and nothing.

I turn on Yahoo and that also comes up with "--" yet a manual check there also shows they are positioned in organic results. Any suggestions that you may have to offer would be greatly appreciated.

    June 25, 2014 - 9:19pm

I am running Firefox 28 on Win 7 with RankChecker 1.8.31

    All I see is - - - - - - - For Google, Yahoo & Bing for every keyword I check.

    Even Keywords I rank 1 i get - - - - - -

    please help!

    June 27, 2014 - 3:14am

rank checker is really a big help but these year, the Bing still don't shows results ..all keywords were (-) ..you need to manually check to get the rank..is tthere any update or advise on these issues??

    October 31, 2014 - 5:14pm

It works far better than all the other expensive version I have bought. Please remove the 100 keyword limit! Or create a paid version that removes the 100 keyword limit to unlimted. Thanks for the great tool!!

    November 12, 2014 - 9:38am

...likely before the year is out

Thanks for the encouraging feedback. We were glad to see the kind comment in what has usually historically been a sea of complaints.

    November 6, 2014 - 2:28pm

Having issues.... Not used the software for a year as I have moved jobs and not needed too but wanted to start using it again, set up a new profile etc...

When I start to add multiple keyword it only saves the first one, I have tried a few different thinsg, even added individual, but it never saves more than one keywords...

Help, I love this tool and want to use it again!

... is we can't provide both free software and free 1 on 1 support. In the past we have provided support to people who have donated to a charity like CharityWater as a way of both helping a good cause and adding some friction to ensure the people on the other end valued our time. Lately though we've been a bit swamped for the past few weeks to a month or so, upgrading various pieces of this site, other sites, and such.

    November 10, 2014 - 3:19pm

Same as this last comment by chrisberthon here: sometimes it doesn't even save one kayword, even without using the multiple keywords panel.
There's no other tool like this, so please fix it!

    November 11, 2014 - 4:16pm

    Hi there,

First off, this is a great tool and saves me so much time! I can get straight to playing around with variables instead of wasting an hour or so getting the results first.

One issue I have is to do with spellings and Google suggesting search results. I'm based in the UK and we spell words like "moulded" with a "u". However, if I put this in, Google automatically gives me results for "molded"
and I have to click the option see my "moulded" results. This happens if I'm on google.com or google.co.uk.

This is translating into the Rank Checker and so some of my searches always return nill. Is there any way to force the checker to search the terms I've entered instead of polling Google's first set of results.

Still think this is great tool, this is just one wrinkle I have.

    Thanks,
    Matt

    November 12, 2014 - 9:36am

... if they reinterpret the search query for you, then that is also what they do to the typical search user. Few users will click on the "did you mean" link (& if enough people were clicking on that link, then Google would stop mutating/reinterpreting the search query on their end).

You could wrap your keyword in quotes to tell Google to search precisely for a keyword (e.g. "moulded"), but that is something most of the broader search audience will not do (and doesn't even known how to do). So you really need to try to rank your site for whatever version Google is preferencing & perhaps try to rank it for both, such that if the preference turns you are still ranking for the other version.
