Everyone is a Hypocrite and a Spammer

One hates to give Jason Calacanis any additional exposure, but how can a person be so against SEO while selling text links for scuba blackjack online? Is he ahead of the market on global warming?

Grow up.. the only thing you're ever going to prove by trying to game my SeRP is that you're low-class idiots.

True, or maybe we are looking for scuba blackjack customers, and knew that you publish high quality original content and ads for that market.

Who cares. Why TF is the 404 page still there?

In all the comments I've read about Calacanis' latest momentary lapse of sanity, that's got to be the best call to date :-)

That quote sounds like a threat to attempt to phsycologically manipulate SEOs into not trying to rank for terms associated with him. If I "gamed" his Serp to say rank for his name and made money off that, that would not make me an idiot but a smart business person. He's a fool in that regard and I hope his lame threat dosen't discourage people from manipulating the SERPS for terms associated with him.

In terms of running ads for folks with SEO in mind it’s a very hard thing to police as you know. Folks show up with one set of ads and switch the sites after you place them, people have self-serve systems and we have to police things after the fact, etc.

We didn’t even know what TextLinkAds was up to until we had used them for a long time. When people let us and Tim O’Reilly know about this stuff we started to take some action. We even talked to Google about it because they kicked on of our blog out of the index because of it! That is exactly my point--it's not worth the quick buck you can make from these things.

There is the issue Jason - ownership.

WE were banned because OUR ads were spammy. WE did not police OUR ads and OUR irrelevancy costed US money.

That take would be far easier to respect - one where you took some ownership. But even in that you still said "we didn't even know...", and then carpet bomb the SEO field with a statement about how irrelevant and low class they are.

Most highly profitable SEOs are highly profitable because they are targeted and relevant in their messaging...the off target stuff doesn't work too well anymore, especially if you consider risk to reward ratios.

I am just going to sit and enjoy Patel's work in next month. :-)
