Dr. Fiorini was born and raised in Miami, FL. He came to Maine as a student attending Colby College in Waterville, ME. After studying mathematics at Colby, Dr. Fiorini returned to Miami and worked in Finance. He then decided to complete a Computer Science degree and received one from Trinity College, Hartford, CT. He worked in private industry in Connecticut at Andersen Consulting, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and as an independent consultant specializing in DB2 database performance issues. He then attended graduate school at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, where he received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science & Engineering. After graduate school, Dr. Fiorini worked at BMC software as a Principle Engineer developing mathematical algorithms that modeled the performance of distributed computing systems. In 2001, he decided to take a faculty position at the University of Southern Maine and will be until August 2008 where he plans to work full-time on his internet marketing company - Carrera & Fiorini Internet Solutions . Dr. Fiorini's research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Information Retrieval, Computer Measurement and Modeling, Computer Performance Modeling, Data Mining, Predictive Modeling, Queueing Theory, Internet Marketing, Search Engine Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, PPC, and Game Theory related to auctions. Dr. Fiorini has over 40 journal and conference publications. He is a member of the IEEE and ACM.
