Google AdSense New TOS

Google updated their AdSense terms of service.

  • Multiple ad units on a page: They now state that it is ok to display up to 3 ad units per page.

  • Remove blank space: There is a new feature where the ad unit may be collapsed when no display ads are available.
  • WebSearch for multiple sites: Your Search Settings page now provides you with the option of specifying multiple domains for SiteSearch. Simply enter up to three domains when generating your search code - your AdSense for search box will list each domain with a radio button, allowing your users to choose the site on which they would like to search.
  • New name for WebSearch: They renamed WebSearch to "WebSearch plus AdSense for search."
  • Dumb call: some ads now show "Ads by Goooooogle." Why is their name intentionally misspelled on a ton of pages when they want all ads to be spelled correctly?

Another new feature that has not been included in this list [ and the announcement made by Google ] is the ablility to open ads in new window.

I am not sure if this feature has been finally rolled out or is just in testing but I am observing it on my site.

This sure is every publisher's dream come true as earlier lot of people might have [ and according to a small scale research conducted by us , they did ] refrained from clicking the ads for the fear of leaving the page.

And this implies higher revenue for publishers and better response for advertisers [ Targeted audience refraining from taking their offer because of fear of leaving the page!].

If there is one thing that I can say about Google then that is - They Listen to their Customers! I had posted this feature as a point in my AdSense Wish list at SEW Forums and AdSense Rep had confirmed passing this point to the development team.

Hail Google!!!
