New SearchEngineWatch SEO Forums

Jun 2nd

Search Engine Watch has opened their new SEO Forums. Only a few hundred posts so far.

With how intertwined that site is within the Internet.com network and how popular and powerful of a site SearchEngineWatch already is, it will be interesting to see how open they are able to keep it and how well they will be able to fight off spam.

Upon further glance they seem to have a triangle which allows you to flag moderators when a bad post occurs.

<2nd update>What effect will this new forum have on other SEO forums?

I think this forum is going to be a hit. There is no doubt about that. Time will tell what effect it will have on the other forums of this genre. They will definitely grow at a very quick rate in my opinion, and probably quicker than the phenomenal rate that WebProWorld did almost a year ago to this day.

As for the spam issue, good question. But I think with the reporting feature, as you noted, it will help in curbing that to some extent. It will depend on what their policy is and how they will go about enforcing it.

What I would hate to see is that the membership gets flooded with the link spammers that come in with mindless one sentence "I agree" posts and offer nothing else to the conversation. These people have no original thinking or novel approaches outside of quoting from their "cut and paste" status-quo buffers of text.

The biggest problem with any SEO forum is that balance with "me too" type posts. In all reality over 95% of any posts in any SEO forums is repackaged information (or misinformation) with nothing new presented.

It is pretty easy to see a person's intent, but it is hard to filter out some of those types of people without earning lots of negative media.

I say those types of people as if I am not one, but somedays I think we all fall into the "me too" category. On the whole I would like to think that category does not define me...

Heh, :D I have to agree there. I think SEW will have the greatest impact on WmW. I loved the post on SEW where somebody said that if WmW can move into hosting SEO conferences then SEW can move into SEo forums. ;)

Blogs are already beating WmW as being _the_ place to find breaking SE news and rumors, now SEW comes along to challenge on another front.
